About 24% of the general population between 18 and 65 years in the 20 countries in our survey belongs to this category. Conservatives prefer to lead a structured and predictable life and they cherish a sense of belonging. They show a great degree of attachment to their respective country, which is expressed by their feelings of pride about their country’s flag. Their desire for structure makes them risk-averse.

Conservatives strongly believe in traditional values and proper social etiquette. For example, they support the view that the father should be the head of the household and they also attribute great importance to respecting one’s parents. Therefore, they are very much family-oriented and great supporters of traditional role models.
